Chapter 7 was all about picture books. I found this chapter pretty interesting. I have always been a fan of picture books, I love pictures with lots of colors and details, so you can understand why. :) But I never knew so much went into making them. That everything from the colors of the pictures, to the shape and texture, and the book covers, they all have different meaning and purpose.
I also learned a lot of new things about teaching a picture book to a class. The right way to read and inter act with the students and the wrong way. I learned a great deal from Chapter 7 and can't wait to start using picture books in my classroom!
The author I picked for this week is Patricia Polacco. I found out about her by one of my group members who suggested her book Pink and Say for our genre project. I fell in love with that book so it made me want to find more books by her. I found her web site very helpful and it looks like she has got lots of great books.
